Spray lances and custom assemblies
Spray lances and custom spray assemblies are purpose-built pipes, wands and nozzle arrangements that place spray nozzles exactly where a process needs them, such as inside ducts, vessels, kilns or around equipment.
Overview
A spray lance is a length of pipe or tube, often with a protective outer sleeve, that carries liquid, and in some designs compressed air, to one or more nozzles at its tip. Lances are inserted through a wall, duct or vessel opening so that the spray is released at a defined point and direction. Custom spray assemblies extend the same idea to brackets, rings, multi-nozzle clusters and frames built around a particular machine or process.
Typical uses include gas cooling and conditioning in ducts, injection of liquids into process streams, cleaning and washing inside equipment, and positioning dust suppression nozzles at awkward points.
Selecting a spray lance or assembly
Consider the insertion length and mounting arrangement, the nozzle type and spray direction, liquid and air flow and pressure, process temperature and atmosphere, materials for the wetted and exposed parts, whether the lance must be removable for maintenance, and connection types at the supply end.

Frequently asked questions
What information is needed to quote a spray lance or custom assembly?
Send a sketch or drawing of where the lance or assembly will be installed, the insertion length, mounting flange or fitting, the liquid and any atomising air, required flow and pressure, spray pattern and direction, process temperature and atmosphere, and preferred materials. Details of any existing assembly being replaced are also helpful.
Can a lance be removed for nozzle cleaning?
Many lances are designed to be withdrawn through their mounting for inspection and cleaning, which is useful where nozzles may foul. Whether this is practical depends on the process, space around the mounting and any isolation needed. Mention maintenance access requirements when you enquire so they are considered in the design.
