Electrical and process automation

Electrical and process automation for industrial plants and machinery, combining drives, controllers, instrumentation and panels to control equipment such as cranes, conveyors, pumps, fans, mixers and test benches.

Engineered solutionIndustrial automation

Overview

Electrical automation covers the power and control side of equipment: motor starting and speed control, protection, PLC control and operator interfaces. Process automation extends this to measuring and controlling variables such as flow, level, pressure and temperature so a process runs consistently with less manual intervention. Typical application areas include cranes and hoists, packaging machinery, mining and cement, printing, port and freight handling, OEM machines, HVAC, lifts, material handling, metals, water and wastewater, wire and cable, rubber and plastics, renewable energy research and test benches.

Planning an automation project

Start from the process or machine description, the loads and motors, the variables to be measured and controlled, operator and safety requirements, and the existing control system. Decide the level of automation needed, communication with plant systems, and what documentation, training and support are required after commissioning.

Frequently asked questions

What should I send to discuss an automation requirement?

Describe the machine or process, what you want to automate or improve, the motors and loads involved, the measurements needed, and the existing controls. Drawings, photographs and any current problems, such as downtime or inconsistent quality, help focus the proposal on what matters most.

Can automation be added to existing equipment?

Yes, many projects upgrade existing machines by adding drives, sensors, a PLC and an HMI rather than replacing the equipment. Feasibility depends on the mechanical condition, available space for panels and sensors, and the downtime that can be allowed for installation. A site survey is the usual first step.

Ready to specify electrical and process automation?

Send the details you have — quantities, sizes, drawings or a part number. Unknowns are fine.
