PLC and HMI systems integration

Integration of PLCs and HMIs into machines and process systems, covering control design, programming, operator screens, communication with drives and field devices, and connection to plant-level systems.

Engineered solutionIndustrial automation

Overview

PLC and HMI integration brings controllers, operator panels, drives, sensors and networks together into a working control system. The work typically covers defining the control philosophy and I/O, selecting hardware, writing PLC logic in standard IEC languages, designing HMI screens and alarms, configuring communication with drives and instruments, and linking to SCADA or MES where needed. Integration can be carried out for new machines or as an upgrade to existing equipment, and is supported by consultation and operator training.

Planning a PLC and HMI integration

Start with a clear description of the machine or process, its sequence and interlocks, the I/O list, the devices to be connected and their protocols, safety requirements, and the existing system if this is an upgrade. Agree how alarms, recipes and data logging should work, and what documentation and training are needed at handover.

Frequently asked questions

What should I send to start an integration project?

Provide a description of the machine or process and its operating sequence, an I/O list or electrical drawings if available, details of drives and instruments to be connected, the preferred PLC and HMI platform, and any safety requirements. For upgrades, include information on the existing controller and program.

What documents can be requested at handover?

You can request the control philosophy, I/O list, electrical drawings, PLC program and HMI project backups, alarm list, communication settings and an operator guide. Agree the documentation list at the start of the project so it is included in the scope and delivered with the system.

Ready to specify plc and hmi systems integration?

Send the details you have — quantities, sizes, drawings or a part number. Unknowns are fine.
