Automation control-panel design and assembly

Design and assembly of automation control panels, from electrical schematics and component selection through enclosure layout, wiring, labelling and pre-dispatch checks, for machine control, motor control and process automation duties.

Overview

Control-panel work starts with the electrical design: single-line and schematic diagrams, component selection for drives, PLCs, switchgear and power supplies, and an enclosure layout that allows for heat dissipation, segregation and maintenance access. Assembly then covers mounting, wiring, ferruling and labelling, followed by checks of wiring and functions before the panel is dispatched. Panels are supplied with drawings and a bill of materials to support installation and future maintenance.

Specifying a panel build

Provide the load list, control requirements and I/O, incoming supply, enclosure type and protection level, installation environment, preferred component makes and any space limits. Agree drawing standards, labelling conventions, test requirements and documentation before the build starts. Allow space for future I/O or components if the machine is likely to be extended.

Frequently asked questions

What information is needed for panel design?

Share the motor and load list, I/O requirements, incoming supply details, preferred component makes, the installation location and environment, and any size limits. Existing drawings or a description of the machine help define the control scheme and the components required.

Can we review drawings before the panel is built?

Yes, schematic and layout drawings can be issued for review and approval before assembly begins. This lets your team check components, terminal arrangements and labelling against site standards. Agree the review stages and turnaround at order so they fit the schedule.

Ready to specify automation control-panel design and assembly?

Send the details you have — quantities, sizes, drawings or a part number. Unknowns are fine.
