Single-ferrule bite fittings
Single-ferrule bite-type fittings for hydraulic and industrial tube systems, where a hardened progressive ring cuts into the tube outside diameter to hold the tube and seal against a conical seat in the body.

Overview
A single-ferrule bite fitting has three parts: the body with its conical seat, a one-piece progressive ring with two cutting edges, and the coupling nut. As the nut is tightened, the ring is pushed into the cone and its edges bite into the tube, raising a visible collar that shows the joint has been made up. The design is flareless and suited to hydraulic lines carrying high operating pressures.
The source range includes connectors, unions, bulkhead unions, elbows, tees, crosses, plugs, caps and loose bite ferrules, with bodies in stainless steel, carbon or mild steel and brass. Bodies are gaugeable and nut threads are silver-plated.
Selecting bite-type fittings
Bite-type fittings depend on a sound, correctly specified tube, so confirm the tube outside diameter, wall thickness and material first; seamless tube is normally used. Choose body and ring material to suit the media, and confirm the thread at any port connection. Make-up should follow the assembly procedure for the fitting, and the visible collar should be checked after assembly.

Frequently asked questions
How do I know a bite-type fitting has been made up correctly?
After tightening, the cutting ring should have raised a visible collar of tube material ahead of its front edge. If the collar is missing or uneven, the joint has not been fully made up or the tube was not seated against the body stop. Many users check this by loosening the nut once after pre-assembly and inspecting the ring position.
What do you need to quote for single-ferrule fittings?
Send the fitting configuration, tube outside diameter and wall thickness, the material, the port thread where applicable, working pressure and media, and quantities. If you are working to a particular standard series, state it. You can request material test certificates and dimensional details with the quotation.
Ready to specify single-ferrule bite fittings?
Send the details you have — quantities, sizes, drawings or a part number. Unknowns are fine.
