Fabrication & engineering
Fabricated metal enclosures
Fabricated metal enclosures house electrical and control equipment. Electric panel cabinets, control-panel enclosures and sheet-metal cabinets are made from cold-rolled steel or stainless steel and finished with powder coating to suit the installation.
Overview
An enclosure protects switchgear, controls and instruments from dust, moisture and accidental contact, and provides the structure for mounting plates, cable entries and doors. Fabricated enclosures are laser cut, bent and welded from cold-rolled steel or stainless-steel sheet, with the door and body fixed by screws and retainers and folded grooves that stiffen the structure. Finishing is by powder coating after hot pre-treatment, cured in conveyorised or batch-type ovens, in the colour specified. Enclosures can be made to the customer's design, including OEM construction, and powder coating is also offered as job work.
Selecting the right enclosure
Define the internal equipment and mounting plate size, overall dimensions, wall or floor mounting, material and thickness, door arrangement and locks, cable entry positions, ventilation and the degree of protection required. State the powder-coat colour and finish, and whether gland plates, hinges and accessories should be supplied fitted.

Frequently asked questions
What do you need to quote a fabricated enclosure?
Send a drawing or a list of the equipment to be housed, overall dimensions, mounting type, material and sheet thickness, door and lock arrangement, cable entry positions, ventilation needs, the degree of protection required, powder-coat colour and quantity. If you have an existing enclosure to copy, photographs and measurements are a good starting point.
Can powder coating be ordered on its own?
Yes. Powder coating is offered as job work for cabinets, control panels and other mild-steel, stainless-steel and aluminium parts supplied by the customer. Parts go through hot pre-treatment before coating and are cured in conveyorised or batch-type ovens. Send part sizes, quantities, material, colour and finish, and any areas that must be masked.
Ready to specify fabricated metal enclosures?
Send the details you have — quantities, sizes, drawings or a part number. Unknowns are fine.
