Custom welded metal assemblies

Custom welded assemblies combine cut, formed and machined parts into finished units such as storage tanks, hoppers, screw conveyors, gratings and heavy-machinery structures, built to the customer's drawing in mild steel, stainless steel or aluminium.

Overview

A welded assembly brings together laser-cut and bent parts, sections and plate, and sometimes machined components, into a single unit. Fit-up, welding sequence and jigs control distortion so that the finished assembly meets its drawing. Typical work includes mild-steel storage tanks, hoppers, screw conveyors, gratings, structures for construction and heavy machinery, modular sheet-metal components and aluminium fabrications. Assemblies are checked against the drawing and finished by painting, galvanising or powder coating as specified.

Selecting the right welded assembly

State the material and grade, overall size and weight, critical dimensions and tolerances, weld type and any weld specification, finishing and quantity. For tanks and containment items, give the contents, capacity and design conditions so that thickness and construction can be confirmed; regulated pressure equipment needs its design code stated.

Frequently asked questions

What do you need to quote a welded assembly?

Send drawings or models with critical dimensions and tolerances, the material and grade, weld requirements, finish, quantity and the delivery schedule. For larger items, add the transport and lifting constraints and whether site assembly is acceptable. If the assembly replaces a worn part, photographs and measurements of the existing item help with the design review.

What information is needed to quote a storage tank?

Give the stored contents, capacity, dimensions or space limits, design pressure and temperature or confirmation of atmospheric storage, the nozzle schedule, supports and access fittings, internal and external coating, and any design code. Pressure vessels and code-regulated equipment need the applicable code agreed before an offer is made, so mention it at the start.

Ready to specify custom welded metal assemblies?

Send the details you have — quantities, sizes, drawings or a part number. Unknowns are fine.
